Faith Disciple Groups
As powerful and meaningful as Sunday morning worship can be, that experience is not all to which the Christian life invites us. At Faith, we strive to be Monday through Saturday Christians also! We feel that this is best done by meeting together regularly in a Faith Disciple Group to study, pray, share, and grow together as followers of Jesus Christ.
Thursday Night Group - This group gathers to study the Bible or related Christian subjects and discussion which may include a short video and/or written material with a study guide.
Mustard Seeds - This group of men and women focus on the many aspects and methods of prayer including the importance and effect of a strong prayer life. Several members of our group also participate as "Prayer Partners" on Sundays during Holy Communion at the 11:00 a.m. service. We are always looking for more partners to help us share intercessory prayers with those who come forward on Sundays.
The Green Peas! - This group is using the Serendipity Bible to study various books of the Bible. Recently, we've studied Job, Esther, and James.
Men of Faith - This group is open to all men 18 and over. We meet for Saturday breakfast to discuss the current issues of the preceding month and seek to draw parallels to scripture.
Ladies Bible Study - This group uses the "Gather" magazine (formerly "Lutheran Woman Today") for various Bible studies. They meet once a month on the fourth Monday at 7:30 p.m. All women are welcome to join in!
Word and Wine - This group gathers to study the Bible, check-in with one another, and offer each other care. A sip of wine and bit of dessert help to sweeten the experience.
Sunday Night Live! - This group meets every three weeks to support one another with care and concern and to celebrate what is good. We spend a portion of our time in some kind of Bible Study, then share in laughter, tears and prayer - with a little dessert on the side!
Brown Bag Bible Study - This group meets Wednesdays at noon in the Fellowship Hall for a mid-week reconnection to the Word. Bring your lunch and the Spirit will bring the inspiration! (Note: This group meets for several weeks, then takes a few weeks off.)
Reading, Meeting, Chatting, and Eating - This group is Faith's "Book Group": we decide upon a book, read it, then meet to discuss it. Like other groups, there is good fellowship and a little something to nibble on!
Faith Action Teams
“Ministry” can happen any time Jesus’ disciples gather in His name. Faith Lutheran encourages its members to follow their passions and employ their spiritual gifts to serve God, their community, and one another. Faith Action Teams are the means for folks to engage in ministries that are not connected with a Faith Disciple Group. Contact us to join one of the teams or to start a new one!
Altar Guild - This ministry of the church is focused on the preparation of the altar and chancel areas for our weekly worship. The Altar Guild is entrusted with the privilege of readying these areas of the church by preparing and placing its furnishings for corporate worship (i.e. the elements for celebrating Holy Communion, the altar candles, the sanctuary candle and the chancel flowers). Team Leader - Daphne Black
Bells of Faith - Our English hand bell choir provides leadership and accompaniment and leadership at various services. Practice is on Wednesday evenings from 6:15pm - 7:15pm during the school year. Team Leader - Greg Lauer
Care and Concern - The Care and Concern team is committed to ensuring that no Faith Lutheran member ever faces a challenge alone, that no one “falls through the cracks.” We reach out in love and care for the grieving, those with health concerns, and anyone else in need. Team Leader - Susan Meier
Faith Unlimited - Our contemporary praise band provides the musical leadership for the 9am Sunday service. Practice is on Saturday mornings from 11am-12pm. Singers and instrumentalists welcome to share your talent. Team Leader - Sid Meier
Faithful Travelers - This team plans and attends various "field trips" for members and friends of our church. It may be a day trip, evening outing, or even longer international travel. Team Leader - Judy Weber
Fun and Fellowship - We here at Faith Lutheran are a friendly bunch, and we like to hang out together from time to time! We plan parties, golf outings, evenings at the dinner theater, and anything else we think of. If you have an idea or suggestion, let us know! Team Leaders: Reenie Waller and Cathy Latoof
Green Thumbs - We have been blessed with a wonderful building and grounds. To be good stewards of God's gift and to provide a warm welcome to the church, this team beautifies the flower beds and potted areas in front of the building. Team Leader - Cass Landefeld
Healing Hands - With the belied that all healing comes from God, we gather to pray in-person or over the phone, hold healing services for those in need, train and provide prayer partners for Sunday morning services, and maintain the congregational prayer list. Team Leaders - Lou Schaefer and Jill Drees.
Sarah's Hope - We meet once a month on Saturday mornings to pack bag lunches and then deliver them to Sarah's Hope, an organization which provides 24-hour emergency shelter, case management and other support services for homeless women and children in the Sandtown-Winchester area of Baltimore City. Sandwich artists and drivers always needed! Team Leader: Derald Jendersee
Synod Liaisons - As an individual congregation we can and do achieve much to advance God's Kingdom here on Earth. But we are also a part of the larger church that finds its expression in the Delaware-Maryland synod. This team keeps its thumb on the pulse of what is going on in the area and seeks to partner with Synod-wide ministries. Team Leader - Valorie LaCour.
Voices of Faith - Our traditional choir provides the musical leadership for the 11am Sunday service. Practice is on Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm - 8:30pm during the school year. Pick-up choirs gather on Sunday mornings during the Summer months. Team Leader - Greg Lauer
