Grace and Peace to you! Beginning February 28, I will be serving as your Synod appointed Intentional Interim Pastor. I am looking forward to our ministry together. Your Council met with me on January 10th to begin to get to know each other and make decisions needed for our ministry together. Since that meeting I have spent some time speaking with Pastor Eileen, staff, and members. I also met with members to discuss ideas for Ash Wednesday, Lent, Holy Week and Easter worship. It is my hope and prayer that this upcoming worship season will be a time of reflection, healing, prayer and hope.
I know that this has been a difficult time for you. The loss of a pastor brings sadness, concern, questions and anxiety. Please know that I continue to pray for all of you during this time of transition. My ministry with Faith will not begin until the end of the month because I will be in Arizona starting February 15. The Synod has provided supply pastors to lead Sunday worship. My hope is that this month will be a time of healing.
The primary responsibilities of an Intentional Interim Pastor are developing and leading worship, encouraging prayer, working with leaders, holding discussions that are important to the congregation’s future, and preparing the congregation for the call process ahead. Our first worship together will be Ash Wednesday, March 1 at 7:00pm. Please plan to attend this beginning service of the Lenten Season.
During March I will be meeting individually with Faith members to get to know you and hear your joys and concerns. A sign-up schedule will be available during February. Look for details in the weekly newsletter. I know you have questions so I will be available immediately after Sunday, March 5 worship for questions and discussion.
The Holy Spirit is guiding this congregation and its leaders on a journey of growth, change and new life. I am excited to be a part of it. Your participation is important and needed. God is good and at work at Faith.
The Rev. Kathryn A. Rohrbach
